Personalization

Here's the deal: This is a first-quality brand-new (factory-sealed) BOSCH OEM direct-replacement Mass Airflow Sensor ("MAF") for the Porsche Boxster. (This is what needs replacing if you are throwing those annoying CEL codes 0410 and 1411: These are defined as "Secondary Air Injection Signal Implausible in cylinders 1-3 and 4-6" and they may be indicative of a bad MAF sensor.) If the MAF sensor is bad, this is your part.

Quantity: One Mass Airflow Sensor + *FREE* T-20 Tamper Proof Torx tool if you need it. THE TORX TOOLS  ARE IN STOCK!

Listen up 2000 Boxster owners...A lot of crazy stuff went down in 2000. Between the 1999 and 2000 Boxster model years Porsche moved from the 996 606 123 00 MAF to the 996 606 124 00 MAF as a part of their move to the drive-by-wire or e-accelerator system. Well, they had some issues - delays occured and even after they brought the new e-accelerator system to market they continued to have problems with the 124 MAF. The 124 MAF turned out to be highly susceptible to particulate matter. So, as good German engineers do, they fixed it post haste. This gave rise to the 996 606 125 00 MAF but there's a twist. This required some changes to the engine control unit software. So what does this mean to you? A lot of confusion what MAF you need for your 2000 Boxster.

For the most part Porsche stopped using the 123 MAF after the 1999 model year. They then started their 2000 model year with the 124 MAF. Mid year they switched to the 125 MAF to address the weaknesses of the 124 MAF. If you are thinking, hey if my car uses the 124 MAF why don't I upgrade to the new 125 MAF? Well, remember that involved a change to the engine control software so unless you want to pay $1,500 to have your engine control unit software upgraded forget about it.

To help make sense of it all we've researched what what cars use which MAF by model and VIN number:

Application:
1997 - 2000 Boxster without M620 e-accelerator
1999 - 2001 Carrera without M620 e-accelerator
All others see 124 or 125 MAF

Comments: We buy them in bulk so we can get you the best price! While you can get away with cleaning a bad MAF sensor at the track with Electronics Cleaner, performance will be spotty (at best) until you replace it. Don't forget that you will need a T-20 Tamper Proof Torx tool to remove and replace the MAF. Of course, we offer them FREE now with your order.

For help with replacing the MAF, see our HOW TO: Remove/Install Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF)

Each Mass Airflow Sensor arrives in a factory-sealed box, with the seal intact. If the seal is broken, the Mass Airflow Sensor cannot be returned. This is not our policy -- it is the policy of our supplier. We are unable to offer the MAF for resale again or return it ourselves, so we are forced to take an expensive loss.

And always check the part number before ordering!
