Wheel Bearing, SKF, Boxster (986), FRONT or REAR

This is a first-quality brand-new (factory-sealed) wheel bearing for the Porsche Boxster. You need one per hub, or two per axle (driver side and passenger side). These wear out after 60,000 - 80,000 miles, and you will hear a noise during steady-state cornering.

If you are doing a lot of track time in your car we recommend spending the extra money for the SKF wheel bearing over the FAG. We find that the SKF are a bit more durable than the FAG. If you use your car for primarily street driving the FAG wheel bearings are fine. You will need a bearing press (special Porsche tool) to remove/install these--we don't see how you could do this without the tool unless you take the hub to someone and have the bearing pressed out. Again, you need one per wheel, two per axle, or four per vehicle if you are replacing all of them.
