COMMENTS:
Typically the bumper structures are removed as part of most race car builds to save weight. This leaves the plastic bumper cover as the the only thing protecting the structural components of your car. We've learned over the years that bumping is inevitable in racing and having some protection can eliminate more costly repairs or a premature end to your weekend.
With that said we've designed our own lightweight bumper bars with integrated "flapper" tow hookS to provide a reasonable amount of protection when contact is made. The bars are made of lightweight tubular mild steel designed to absorb some of the energy (i.e. bend) rather than tansfer the energy into frame rails of the car. Rear bar weighs 8 lbs - 10 lbs less than the stock bumper structure.
